New Breed Record Price
for Belgian Blue Bull at Carlisle

A new breed record of 21,000gns was set on Saturday
at the Border Belgian Blue Club Show and Sale. The supreme
and junior champion from scottish breeders R & M Paterson from
Dunblane, Perthshire sold their October 2003 bull, Auchenlay Vagabond
for the new record breaking price. A son of Park Organiser
and out of a Battlesden bred mother, Codicote Rose, sold to the
events judge John Richardson of Ghyll House, Appleby in conjunction
with Neil Barclay of the Harestone Herd, Banchory, Aberdeenshire.
Just short of the previous breed record, an Intermediate bull from
Graham Brindley of Shropshire received the next leading price at
11,500gns. Bringlee Volkawagon, a June 2003 born bull sired
by Baron de bois Bauloye and bred from Bringlee Sandy the reigning
female breed champion at the Royal Show and the breed champion
from the Royal Welsh Show. Volkawagon was purchased as a
joint venture between Netherhall Farms Ltd from Kirkby Lonsdale
and Borbreck Genetics Ltd from Lancaster.
In the female section an in calf cow sold for the top price of
6,000gns. Consigned by Messrs MW Bousfield of Penrith,
Ridge Dean Rita a Fontaine daughter, sold carrying her third calf
to AE Neachell & Son of Aldridge, Walsall.
