Females
An added feature was the production sale of the Chesham and Silver herds from Buckinghamshire which was a tremendous success with all 10 cow and calf outfits finding new homes. The Chesham herd is the oldest pedigree Charolais herd in the country founded by Tony Harman and now managed by his grandson Ben, with the Silver herd being established by Tony’s son Dan.

The stars of this section were Chesham Emma and her 10 month old bull calf Chesham Leopard. Emma is sired by the French imported Chesham Potemkine and her son is sired by the 18,000gns Thrunton Fairfax. They were purchased together in a 3,300gns deal by MA Swistun, Gower, Swansea.

Purchaser DJ Barnes liked the look of the Silver animals snapping up four pairs to take back to his home in Newent, Gloucestershire including the three year old Thrunton Fairfax daughter Silver Indus and her 24 day old heifer calf Silver Marinka by Silver Jules at 1,850gns. Then at 1,700gns he bought another pair at the same age and also sired by the same duo - Silver Idun and her month old son Silver Mjolnir.

The female section was rounded off by a consignment of four cracking heifers from John and Jenny Rix, Nayland, Essex. Their top priced was the February 2014-born Wissington Jilly TI +50 SRI +38. Forking out 2,100gns for this 12,000gns Thrunton Galaxy daughter and class winner was JG Rich and Son, Mold, Flintshire.
