NSA Event to Inspire and Inform Next Generation Sheep Farmers
Young people with an enthusiasm for the sheep sector are invited to join likeminded individuals and industry professionals at a free event later this month, held as part of the National Sheep Association (NSA) Next Generation project.
The one-day event will take place on Wednesday 21st November at Hexham Livestock Market, Hexham, Northumberland, NE46 3SG. It follows five previous successful events held across the UK.
Joanne
Briggs, NSA Communications Manager and Next Generation project
co-ordinator, says:
“NSA Next Generation events aim to
cater for everyone with a passion for sheep farming, from new entrants
to those looking at taking on more responsibility within a long-established
business as well as anyone who is simply keen to learn more about
sheep farming.
“The day will provide a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the options out there for young people considering a career in sheep farming or looking to make their mark on an existing business. However, this event is not just about learning as it provides a chance to meet up with likeminded individuals to share experiences of sheep farming, which NSA considers to be a key part of the day.”
Attendees are invited to arrive at 10am for a 10.30am start when NSA Northern Region Vice Chairman and Next Generation Ambassador Thomas Carrick will chair a panel of young sheep farmers to discuss their differing routes into the sector.
Informal and practical workshops will follow, each run by an industry professional.
Attendees are invited to attend four of the seven stations covering the following topics: -
-
Responsible medicine use for your flock
-
Accessing grant funding
-
Maximising returns on your wool
-
Understand mastitis in sheep
-
The power of social media
-
Business planning
-
The sheep industry post Brexit
The event will run from 10am to 3.45pm and will include a free lunch for all who attend. Prior booking is essential.
