The origins

1854 when the North East Agricultural Association of Ireland was
founded. |

The Society
has played a leading role in the development of agriculture and the
rural economy in Wales for over a century since its formation in
1904. |

From humble
origins in 1797, and a Membership of just 100, the Three Counties
Agricultural Society entered its fourth century of existence in the
Millennium year. |

Traditionally
the annual Show is held on the last Friday and Saturday of July each
year in Springwood Park, forty six acres of parkland on the outskirts
of Kelso. |

The Society
is responsible for The Royal Highland Show that takes place over
four days at the end of June every year. This attracts 160,00 visitors,
over 2000 exhibitors, and 5000 livestock. |

The Yorkshire
Agricultural Society was founded in 1837 to help improve agriculture
in the region. It is best known for organising the Great Yorkshire
Show, but this is only part of its work. |
