The Society

The name
Dormer is an abbreviation of the linkage Dorset-Merino.The Dormer
is well known for its high fertility, excellent mothering abilities,
long breeding season and easy lambing. |

The Dorper
breed is now numerically the second largest breed in South Africa
and has spread to many countries throughout the world. |

Originally
known as the German Mutton Merino, the first ten ewes and a ram were
imported to South Africa from Germany in 1932. |
