Six clutchless changes from Dyna-6 transmission
The new Dyna-6 transmission is an option on the seven Perkins powered models in the MF 6400 Series and further enhances the tractors' performance by increasing output and saving fuel. The transmission provides 24F/24R speeds, bridging the gap between a powershift and the Dyna-VT continuously variable transmission.
A small armrest-mounted lever changes the six Dyna-6 speeds either individually with a single 'pulse', or through the speeds by holding it forwards or back. Pressing a button on the lever allows the gear ratios to be changed without using the clutch.
Massey Ferguson's unique left-hand, Power Control lever extends versatility and ease of use. This frees the right hand to make other adjustments on the console while also shifting. The lever declutches the transmission, shifts direction and changes through the Dyna-6 speeds.
AutoDrive allows operators to select one of three modes: Manual, Speedmatching or AutoDrive for field or road. In road mode the AutoDrive system shifts both the Dynashift speeds and changes the ranges automatically. In the field mode this provides auto-shifting through the six Dyna-6 steps. AutoDrive also allows the operator to set the engine revs at which the transmission changes up automatically, to help users to tailor precisely the automatic changing to suit the individual task.
Speedmatching automatically selects the correct Dynashift ratio when making gear changes. In the Speedmatching 'field mode' it is necessary to press the button to change gear and then Speedmatching will automatically select the appropriate Dynashift ratio. When the dial is set to the Speedmatching 'road mode', holding the lever forwards or backwards will change the Dynashift ratio as well as the gear.
GTA console and software simplifies communication
With its new GTA console and software Massey Ferguson now offers operators the opportunity to gain further benefits from their MF 8400, MF 7400 and MF 6400 tractors with a straightforward link between the Datatronic III monitoring and control systems in the tractor and the office PC.
The simple to use, low-cost package logs machine and operating information, which is important for crop traceability and record keeping requirements. It enables the information to be transferred from any MF tractor fitted with the optional GTA Console to an office PC and, if required, exported to other farm management programmes.
The GTA console, which is the new operator interface on the MF 8400 and MF 7400 and certain MF 6400s, features a full-colour TFT Screen that is equipped with a MMC/SD card slot for downloading data. Tractors fitted with the GTA Console will receive GTA100 Communicator as standard. For an additional list price of Euro 300 users can upgrade to the more powerful GTA200 Record Keeping software for more detailed management of the information.
Using GTA100 Communicator software the GTA Console logs machine and field data. This can then be transferred by SD card into the software on the office PC to allow machine use and job data to be viewed and exported for use by third-party farm management programs
The next step, GTA200 Record Keeping, allows machine performance data to be allocated to a specific job or field to produce a range of reports. This means important crop traceability information can be collated as well as producing field and machine records and printable reports.
New Beta combines offer optimum performance in all crops and conditions
The new MF 7200 Beta combines are engineered specifically for work in a wide range of crops and conditions. The drum, concave and straw-walker design is proven to be the most effective threshing and separation mechanism that is able to cope with the wide variety of crops and higher moisture contents encountered in northern Europe.
The six-walker, MF 7260 Beta on show at the Highland for the first time, is powered by a 7.4-litre, 275hp Sisu Diesel with electronic engine management.
An Autolevel table is standard and by compensating for slopes up to 8%, it provides the combine with a smooth, positive feed to optimise harvesting output on any terrain. A 'Powerfeed Roller' at the base of the elevator evens out crop flow, providing a steady stream to the main elevator. This results in a smoother, full-width feed for an even flow of crop to the threshing system, saving power and fuel. The 600mm diameter, 1.34m wide Hi-Inertia threshing cylinder works against a concave offering 104° of wrap. Independent concave adjustment for the front and rear provides operators with more control over threshing performance.
Extra separation comes from a rotary separator that is particularly important when working in damp conditions and with high straw volumes. If not required the separator, uniquely, can be disengaged providing the operator with the flexibility to optimise grain sample and combine performance.
The closed-bottom straw walkers provide four steps and have punched grid 'active walls' for extra surface and more efficient separation. The combine has a 9,000-litre capacity tank that can be unloaded in less than one and half minutes with an auger height of 4.45m.
Full size tractor features in a compact package
The three models in the new MF 1500 Series, from 32hp to 46hp, are a lightweight but rugged design that makes the tractors ideal for work in a wide variety of municipal, horticultural, arboreal and local authority applications. These tractors are on show at the Royal Highland for the first time.
The tractors have a 12 forward/12 reverse speed transmission with synchro-shuttle, using a simple arrangement of four synchronised gears in three ranges offering speeds from 0.37km/hr to 30km/hr. There is also the option of a hydrostatic transmission, which will be on display at the Highland Show on an MF 1547 model. This model also features a comfortable cab, which is an option on all hydrostatics.
The MF 1500 Series is capable of working with a wide variety of equipment, which can be powered by the two-speed, independent PTO with 'Soft Start' switch. Powerful hydraulics offer high lift capacities to handle heavy implements (up to 1,580kg on MF 1547).
Operators benefit from a comfortable and spacious platform with modern instrumentation and control layout for ease of work on long days.

MF lifts telehandler spec
Three updated Massey Ferguson telehandlers offer fast lifting cycles and a host of other features that boost performance. All the models benefit from new engines, improved cab layouts and proportional, single joystick control.
· Hydrostatic transmission for power and control · Higher capacity hydraulic pump boosts output of larger machine · Fully proportional control from single joystick · Cab provides easy access, comfort and operation · New StageII/Tier II engines, provide greater power and flexibility
The MF 8925 and MF 8926 models offer lift capacities of 2,500kg and 2,200kg to full height, respectively. Their maximum lift capacity is 2,500kg. The MF 8947 offers a 3.5t lift maximum capacity (see table for details).
All models employ MF's proven and powerful hydrostatic transmission that offers infinitely variable speed control in two ranges, regardless of engine speeds. This not only provides the machines with superb power for pushing into heaps and climbing silage pits, but allows operators to increase engine speed for fast lifting cycles while still maintaining complete control of forward speed for manoeuvring when stacking bales or pallets.
The multi-function joystick allows a number of features to be operated at the same time. All the functions have full proportional control - the further the stick is moved the faster the system works. For safety a 'Stability Indicator' detects when the handler reaches critical limits of longitudinal stability and prevents further boom extension to reduce the risk of accidents. The boom can, however, still be lowered or retracted.
The cab has a two-piece 'stable' door for easy access, along with a logical control layout, which groups controls and switches into working areas. An optional air-conditioning system enhances overall comfort, plus there's heater and defrosting system for helping out on cold mornings.
The latest Perkins 99hp (74.5kW) Tier 2 compliant engines power all models. These all also benefit from improved cooling with four-row radiators and a nine-blade fan driven from an independent hydraulic circuit.
