Presented at the Royal Show each year, the Royal Agricultural Society of England Machinery Awards recognises the cream of machinery development. A Silver Award this year for New Holland's TS-A tractor range acknowledges the increased levels of comfort and performance that this tractor brings to the highly competitive 100-135hp sector. New Holland's TS-A adds this award to an already impressive list that includes Machine of the Year at Agritechnica 2003. In addition to a presentation made by New Holland, the judges visited and interviewed TS-A users across the country to discuss and assess first-hand the machine's operation. Rather than a particular feature, the whole tractor was under scrutiny and had to prove that not only was it effective and reliable, but also introduced important new features and offered outstanding advantages for the user. The comments from the judges included superb visibility, very easy access for servicing, and an outstandingly logical cab layout. Managed power on the electronically-controlled engines was a feature greatly valued. The overall view of some very experienced and knowledgeable users was that the TS-A tractor represents a real step forward in tractor performance, driver comfort and in-cab support, versatility, and sheer range of options available to the customer. The TS-A was launched in 2003 to replace the Series TS. It quickly became apparent that the TS-A is much more than a simple facelift. Not only does the tractor have the sophisticated styling of its bigger stablemates, but the specification proves that the TS-A is virtually an all-new Series. From its Horizon™ cab, which brings new levels of comfort and functionality to tractors of this size, to the powerful and flexible four- and six-cylinder, the TS-A has been designed to offer the best choice for stock, mixed and arable uses.
