THE delights of British lamb were brought home to French Agriculture Minister Dominique Bussereau when he visited a sheep event held at Bellac, near Limoges in France.
British Meat France ran a joint stand for EBLEX, QMS and HCC at the three-day 'Tech-ovins' and the Meat and Livestock Commission's French manager Remi Fourrier was able to meet the minister to extol the virtues of our lamb.
The organisation of the stand was carried out by Mike Adams and his wife Barbara.
They have a farm near Charfield in Gloucestershire, with a very high quality pedigree flock of Hampshire Downs, and Mike is a member of the Steering Committee of the EBLEX Better Returns programme.
He is always very active on exports and has been participating at the French food and farming show SIA for the last eight years.
Remi said: "The stand was very busy with numerous enquiries including 100 Scotch half-bred ewes and 500 Poll Dorset ewes with 10 rams together with many smaller orders.
"Mike got a very good article in the local press titled "Les Anglais débarquent" (The D-day!).
"The British sheep industry is highly respected in France and a British presence at major food and agriculture shows in France helps to consolidate the quality message we deliver."
