|
Sales from 3 pedigree Limousin herds held on Friday 21st October 2005 at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, saw a brisk trade and near total clearance topped by the stylish heifer, Jencralodge Utopia, when selling for 13,000gns to an undisclosed buyer. Bidding was keenly fought and reflected the considerable interest generated by buyers from the length and breadth of the UK.
Forming part of a major Reduction Sale on behalf of the Jencralodge Herd of Mr MJ Smith, Manor Lodge Farm, Cocknage Rd, Rough Close, Stoke on Trent, the June 2003 born served heifer Jencralodge Utopia led the trade of 75 catalogued entries. Out of the home-bred cow Jencralodge Jodie and by Neutron she was presented in-calf to Haltcliffe Novel.
The excellent seven year old brood cow, Jencralodge Odette, sold with her Haltcliffe Novel sired bull calf at foot, took the day's second price of 6,200gns when purchased by WE Salisbury, Church View Farm, Treales, Kirkham, Preston, Lancs for their Kirkview pedigree herd. A sixth calver by Ami and out of Jencra Hope, she was sold in-calf to Nenuphar.
Jencralodge Odette's daughter, Jencralodge Una, took the joint third top price of 5,000gns. Once more offered in-calf to Nenuphar, this heifer and Titan daughter went under the hammer for 5,000gns to J Thomson's Beath pedigree Limousin herd in Kelty, Fife. Other leading prices from the Jencralodge consignment included the 3,500gns paid by WL Hollow, t/a Chytodden Farm, Towednack, St.Ives, Cornwall for Jencralodge Rebecca, the five year old cow by Irlandais and, like the day's top price, out of Jencralodge Jodie.
Leading the Dispersal Sale of the Aldwyck Herd on behalf of Mr & Mrs R Birkett, Aldwyck Court, Wrington, Bristol was the remarkable Aldwyck Fenella who underlined the Limousin's ability to produce long-lived cows when selling for 5,000gns to N & E Cruickshank, Cowford Farm, Cleghorn, Lanark. This fifteen year old cow and dam of many powerful, prize-winning bulls is a Talent daughter and out of Tanhill Uda and was sold with her Mas Du Clo sired heifer calf at foot, Aldwyck Alma.
Second price from the Aldwyck consignment went to Aldwyck Rohan, the January 2000 born third calver, sold with her Mas Du Clo sired bull calf, Aldwyck Antonio, for 3,200gns. Purchaser of this Dauphin daughter and out of Aldwyck Francis were Messrs Hodgson, Hart Head Farm, Rydal, Cumbria.
Topping the dispersal sale from the Springside Herd on behalf of Sarah Clubley, Manor Farm Cottages, Little Thirkleby, Thirsk, N Yorks was the 3,600gns Hopehouse Paige. This January 1999 born fourth calver by Redpaths Mascot and out of Elvetham Luscinia was sold with her Woodhouse Pugh son, Springside Amazon, at foot. New owners are WJ & M Mash Ltd, Torrington Farm, Grove Lane, Chesham, Bucks.
