Following the introduction of the new ARES 507 and 607 range earlier
this year, a number of new additions and updates to the CLAAS tractor
range will be launched at Agritechnica.
ATLES
946RZ
The ATLES range sees the addition of a new higher powered model.
The new ATLES 946RZ is fitted with a turbocharged and intercooled
Deutz engine, developing 275 hp (ECE-R24) at rated engine speed,
with a maximum power output of 282hp, and maximum torque of 1100Nm.
Drive to the wheels is through an 18 forward, 8 reverse powershift
transmission which is also fitted with the CLAAS clutchless REVERSHIFT
reverser, controlled using a forward/neutral/reverse lever mounted
on the left of the steering column.

The specification for the new ATLES 946RZ includes the HYDROSTABLE
full cab suspension system, whilst the 12 tonne capacity three-point
linkage, which incorporates a transport shock absorber, is controlled
using the TCE25 electronic linkage control system.
Across all ATLES models, the standard specification now includes
automatic stabilisers and a swivelling air seat, in addition to
the ELECTROPILOT cross-control joystick.
Built into the armrest, ELECTROPILOT allows for electronic control
of two double-acting spool valves, giving the tractor a total of
four double-acting spools, that are fed by a load sensing hydraulic
circuit.
Depending on the implement or the degree of control required,
using controls mounted on the ‘B' pillar, the operator
is able to adjust the flow rate or can activate the direct continuous
hydraulic supply for a motor, whilst a button on the joystick enables
the float position to be activated for either axis.
New ARES 606 range
To better meet the needs of those, such as livestock farmers,
who need a higher horsepower, 6-cyinder tractor but without the
cost and electronic technology found on many tractors of this size,
CLAAS has introduced the new ARES 606 range.
Two models are available, the ARES 616RC and 656RC which are some
20% less expensive than their ARES 607 equivalents.
Both use DPS 6-cylinder engines developing 115hp and 132hp respectively,
but instead of the HEXASHIFT transmission used on the ARES 07 range,
these two models are fitted with the CLAAS TWINSHIFT transmission,
which has two power-shifts within each mechanical gear, giving
a total of 16 forward and 16 reverse speeds, with the REVERSHIFT
clutchless reverser. Where required a creep speed transmission
is available with 24 forward and 24 reverse speeds.
The specification includes a swingback pick-up hitch; a 60 l/min
hydraulic system with two double acting spool valves, and a two
speed PTO, although a 540/540E/1000/1000E speed PTO is available
as an option.
The rear linkage is controlled using the CLAAS TCE 15T electronic
linkage control, which uses a four-position switch to raise and
lower the linkage, and dial setting for the height, lowering speed
and draft/position control mix.
Both models have a non-suspended cab, for which air-conditioning,
air seat and passenger seat are all optional extras.
PROACTIV now standard on ARES 800
The ARES 800 range has been subject to a number of specification
upgrades, most notably the inclusion of PROACTIV independent front
axle suspension as standard.
PROACTIV can be operated in a number of modes, working across
a range of 87mm, and will automatically compensate for the weight
of a front linkage or weights when fitted. In automatic, the axle
will work around the middle position whilst using the manual option
it possible to select the height of the axle. Also when set in
manual, once the forward speed of the tractor exceeds 14kph, it
will automatically change to automatic. When deactivated, the suspension
stays in a fixed central position.
Other specification changes across all three models include the
addition of a fourth double-acting spool valve, automatic stabilisers,
a three-speed 540/540E and 1000rpm PTO. The ARES 816 and 826 also
benefit from an additional 70 litre fuel tank.
