Leading animal health specialist Merial is hosting an evening
to present new technologies that will significantly improve on-farm
beef cattle management and selection.
The event will be held at the Shepherds Inn, Carlisle
in conjunction with Harrison & Hetherington and Carrs Billington
on Wednesday 18th January.
Guest speakers will discuss how the eating quality of beef and
efficiency of production can be enhanced, using the latest gene-marking
technologies.
IGENITY, a new service from Merial, allows producers to take
'genetic fingerprints' of their animals to assess their breeding
and production worth, bringing cattle breeding into the 21st century.
Harrison & Hetherington's pedigree sales and marketing manager,
Heather Pritchard, is keen to get as many farmers along to the
event as possible.
"Gene-marking will play a major role in the future of meat
marketing.
"This event aims to increase farmers' awareness of the benefits
of gene-marking, and its practical applications on farm.
