Lancashire agricultural machinery dealer, T H Horn, based at Cabus
near Garstang, Lancs, has been named 'Northern Dealer of the Year
2005' by Italian tractor maker Landini in recognition of the company's
sales performance and standards of after-sales service.
The award was presented to Tony Newsham of Horns by Landini UK
sales director Simeone Morra, who commended the business on the
way it meets the machinery needs of farmers in the area.
"T H Horn is a long-standing Landini retailer widely appreciated
by customers for high standards of product knowledge and after-sales
customer service," says Mr Morra. "The business did particularly
well in 2005, selling more tractors than usual when the overall
market for farm tractor sales was down, so it is a worthy winner
of our annual award."
The family run business is headed by Brian Horn who oversees service
operations at the Croston Barn premises, while Tony Newsham looks
after sales. They are supported by administration, parts and service
staff in providing a range of implements, workshop tools and consumables
and all the other essential items needed on a modern farm.
As far as the Landini tractors are concerned mid-range 80hp to
100hp Powerfarm and Vision models are the most popular with T H
Horn's dairy and beef/sheep farmer customers, while the more powerful
six-cylinder Mythos and Legend tractors have a following among
vegetable and salad crop growers in the Black Fen area for field
work and haulage.
"The Landini range has developed into a line-up that really
is on a level with any make of tractor you care to mention," says
Tony Newsham. "Many of our customers particularly appreciate
the wide range of models and different build specifications because
it means there's always a tractor to suit their particular needs
and budgets."
With a large trading area that encompasses all of Lancashire,
eastwards into Yorkshire as far as Skipton, and up into the southern
end of Cumbria, the company needs to be on its toes with efficient
parts deliveries and field service.
"As far as service is concerned, our workshop staff and Landini
specialist technician Richard Miller do an excellent job with the
spanners to keep our customers' tractors fit for work," says
Tony Newsham. "The 'Dealer of the Year' award is very welcome
and will encourage us to do even better in 2006!"
