The Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department
(SEERAD) are organising a series of meetings aimed at giving
sheep keepers the opportunity to learn more about sheep ID rules.
Scott Walker, NFU Scotland Policy Director, said:
“On sheep ID, Scotland is in the spotlight as far as Brussels
is concerned. It is important that the keepers of sheep are kept
informed of the rules concerning sheep ID so that we have the
best chance of keeping our derogation from double tagging and
the individual recording of sheep movements. We will be
having another EU inspection shortly and so we must ensure that
everything is running smoothly.
“These meetings will allow producers the chance to ask
questions and address queries over sheep ID. In particular,
issues such as the amalgamation of holdings or the 5 mile concession
will be explained and clarified.”
