Award winning chefs, delicious food, and exciting cookery demonstrations combine to make the perfect ingredients for a visit to this year's Great Yorkshire Show.

Now in its 149th year, the event is renowned as a showcase for fabulous food and drink from across the region, and beyond. This year the North of England's largest annual countryside event runs from Tuesday 10 July to Thursday 12 July at the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate.

The Food Show, held in the showground's purpose built exhibition hall, will again be the setting for a vast array of superb fare from producers large and small. Many are members of The Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber (RFGHY), which promotes the region's food and drink under the brand Deliciouslyorkshire. Visitors will be able to taste, and buy, everything from hand-pressed nettle and ginger cordials to venison burgers, toffees and fudges and chutneys.

This year, the Show, which last year attracted a record 135,111 visitors, is playing host to the launch of the Deliciouslyorkshire Guide to Food and Drink 2007-8, providing up-to-date information on the best of Yorkshire and Humber's producers, retailers, caterers and distributors. There will also be regular demonstrations and tutorials on their stand hosted by TV cook Annie Stirk, who has worked on Yorkshire TV's "You Are What You Eat" and Gloria Hunniford's "Open House" for Channel 5.

It's not just food from the region which is on offer, but delicacies from across the United Kingdom. Visitors with a sweet-tooth will be tempted by a 50in chocolate fountain, where they will be able to dip marshmallows in pure Belgium chocolate provided by the Essex-based Chocolate Fondue Company, while making a regular trip 'down south' will be the Inverawe Smokehouse from Argyll, Scotland, offering people the chance to stock up on their wonderful pates, terrines and picnic packs.

Complementing the dozens of stands around the showground will be cookery demonstrations. The 2005 Great Yorkshire Chef of the Year Robert Ramsden, Head Chef at the General Tarleton at Ferrensby, nea Knaresborough, is returning to the Great Yorkshire Cheese and Dairy Cookery Theatre at the show, along with Chef Stephanie Moon from Rudding Park Hotel, Harrogate.

Making a first appearance will be Tom Van Heller, Head Chef at Harrogate's Hotel Du Vin, while popular beer chef and TV personality Richard Fox will be showing visitors how to include more beer in your cooking.

The Leeds designer store, Harvey Nichols will again be represented as for the fourth year in succession, Executive Head Chef Richard Allen will be hosting demonstrations and there will be mini wine masterclasses on offer.
