Patricia and fellow Yorkshire members of Farm Stay UK, the country’s
largest network of farm-based accommodation providers, will be
serving up traditional all-day Yorkshire farmhouse breakfasts on
Wednesday and Thursday (Jan 23 & 24).
Yorkshire Cancer Research will benefit from the initiative, part
of a national promotion run by the Home Grown Cereals Authority
to highlight the importance of beginning the day with a proper
breakfast and the quality of local and regional produce.
The Yorkshire event has attracted widespread interest from both
breakfasters and sponsors, including the Royal Bank of Scotland
and Skipton Building Society.
Among food sponsors is the newly formed East Yorkshire egg marketing
co-operative EggSell, which is providing 30 dozen of its best free
range eggs to feed 140 mouths over the two-day fundraiser.
Eggsell Producers Ltd aims to build relationships between regional
farmers and retailers, so reducing food miles, ensuring a good
return for all involved and providing the public with wholesome
and tasty eggs from chickens that are free to roam.
Caroline Elliott, from Bewholme, one of the founders of EggSell,
comments: “It’s great to be able to reward an initiative
for cancer treatment in our region, at the same time supporting
Yorkshire’s farming community.”
