NSA Scotsheep 2008 is shaping up to be the best ever with 140
trade stands booked and a record 40 sheep breed displays confirmed.
Organised by NSA Scotland with Bank of Scotland Corporate as major
sponsor, this year’s event takes place on Wednesday, June 4,
on the farm of Northhouse, Teviothead, Hawick, Roxburghshire, courtesy
of host farmers, Ian and Katherine Hepburn, and their sons, John,
Adam and Gregor.
“NSA Scotsheep, held every two years, is now well established
as the major event for the sheep industry in Scotland,” said
Jack Clark, managing director of John Swan Ltd, who is chairman of
the local organising committee.
“This year’s event is attracting tremendous support from
sponsors, trade stand exhibitors and breed societies which will bring
thousands of sheep farmers to the Borders – one of the principal
sources of supply of breeding stock to all parts of the UK - and
ensure another first-class event for the Scottish sheep industry.”
Mr Clark said the welcome resurgence of confidence in the sheep industry
following the strong spring trade for hoggs should be reflected through
increased interest from producers seeking to glean all the latest
technical and marketing information to help them improve the efficiency
and profitability of their sheep enterprises.
He paid tribute to sponsors, trade stand exhibitors and sheep breed
societies whose support was vital to the success of the event.
“NSA Scotsheep will be the place to be to catch up with all
the latest developments and trends in the sheep industry and we are
grateful for the tremendous support we have received from all sections
of the industry,” said Mr Clark.
Features of NSA Scotsheep will include a farm tour, seminar programme,
sheep dog trials, stockjudging competition, farmers’ market,
and demonstration of electronic identification,
In addition to Bank of Scotland Corporate as major sponsor, mainline
