Harrison & Hetherington Limited, held their annual spring poultry and waterfowl sale on Saturday 27th February 2010 when they presented a huge catalogue entry of 1,400 poultry and waterfowl together with 250 lots of hatching eggs, and 250 lots of equipment.
A trio of Light Sussex sold for £140

Once again this spring event attracted an enormous volume of entries and exhibitors and buyers travelled from as far afield as Aberdeen, Northern Ireland and North Wales.
One of the sale day auctioneers, Bill Nelson, commented ‘the standard of the poultry and waterfowl forward for sale was more for quality types and this reflected on the strength of the days strong trading throughout. The variation of types available to buy suited all budgets’.
Leading the sale at £200 was a trio of Buff Utility geese exhibited by Mr J Webster of Carlisle.
Following at £180 were a pair of Hawaiian Nene geese shown by AG Clarke of Carnforth. Also selling for £180 was a trio of cream Legbars from J Wake of Bishop Auckland.
At £150 were a trio of cream Indian Game consigned by J Barnes of Scarisbrick, Lancs. Selling for £140 was a trio of light Sussex 2009 pullets sold by H Walmsley of Preston.
Hatching eggs sold up to £48 for a dozen of Buff Sussex exhibited by J Mitchell of Newton Mearns of Glasgow.
The various items of equipment topped at £260 for a 120 egg auto incubator with other items selling at £220 for a Conatulto incubator and £210 for a 12ft hen ark.
