Countryside Live 2010 - Already a Record Breaker !
2010-10-14

This year’s Countryside Live is already a record breaker with more entries in the competitive classes than ever. A total of 2,838 have been received for the autumn rural showcase, ranging from cattle to poultry to the sausage tasting competition.

The event, which is run by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, takes place at the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 October.

Bill Cowling, Honorary Show Director said: “This is a fantastic endorsement of Countryside Live as a traditional country show which has something for everyone. Entries, particularly for the cattle section, were coming in from very early on, and we have had a waiting list in place for some time. And our new X Factor show jumping contest is proving hugely popular with over 40 entries and from across the country. That really adds a totally new dimension to the event.”

Last year competitive entries stood at 2,781 with notable increases this year seen in the equine and poultry sections – 252 and 226 respectively. Sheep numbers are strong once again with a total of 252.

Elsewhere around the event, there are alpacas for the first time, the chance to have a go at archery, as well as the new show jumping competition, which will see equestrian experts Graham and Tina Fletcher choose the overall event champion through a series of heats. deliciouslyorkshire will be staging cookery demonstrations, plus there are dog agility shows, falconry demonstrations, and plenty of opportunities for pre-Christmas shopping.
