Wilodge Enrico Sells in £30,000 Private Deal

The Limousin bull Wilodge Enrico from the Shifnal, Shropshire-based Wilodge herd of Christine Williams and Paul Tippetts has been sold in a £30,000 private sale to Northern Irish pedigree breeders Gerry, Dympna Moane and family.

June 2009-born Enrico, is a son of the legendary Limousin sire Sympa and is out of Wilodge Vavanelle, who is a full sister to the highly acclaimed 42,000gns sire Wilodge Vantastic and out of the herd’s incredibly successful French cow Ravenelle, who is the dam of record priced embryos sold last July for 2600gns.

With a beef value of +39 he is in the top 1% of the breed and has a maternal production value in the top 10% of UK Limousins and on purchase weighed in excess of 1000kg.

Mr Moane, who runs 100 cows in the Altaponer herd at home in Co Fermanagh, bought Enrico for his combination of some of the breeds leading bloodlines along with his excellent estimated breeding values.

The ET-bred Enrico will leave the 50 cow Wilodge herd in mid-March to head to Cogent Breeding Ltd’s bull stud for semen collection before he travels to join the Altaponer herd.

Commenting on the sale Christine Williams said she was delighted Enrico had sold to the Moane family and would eagerly await news of his first progeny. “He ranks among the pick of the bulls we’ve bred at Wilodge over the years and his calves should be a very exciting prospect.”

Buyer Mr Moane added: “We knew Enrico was the bull for us the minute we laid eyes on him at a recent visit to Wilodge. He has phenomenal growth for age, depth of flesh, great mobility and temperament and is incredibly correct. His pedigree is jam-packed with some of the breed’s finest genetics and his figures are what we need to move our herd forward.”
