Cattle Expert Takes on Scottish Role with Harrison & Hetherington Beef cattle expert Neil Caul has joined Harrison & Hetherington in a new role as sales development manager in Scotland.
Neil brings more than 30 years’ experience of the livestock industry to the new position to develop the Carlisle-based company’s already significant presence in Scotland marketing predominantly pedigree cattle but also commercial stock. Well known in pedigree cattle circles across the UK, he has a small pedigree Charolais herd of his own with which he has competed with great success, having previously shown the breed champion at the Royal Highland Show. He has also judged cattle at leading events across the country, including the supreme cattle championships at Smithfield Show two years ago. “Born and bred” into the beef industry with numerous family members running pedigree herds, Neil also has widespread experience of the commercial side of the industry as a prime cattle buyer. Neil said: “Harrison & Hetherington is recognised across the UK as a specialist auctioneer of both pedigree and commercial cattle and I am looking forward to working with the team - many of whom I already know - to expand sales of cattle from Scotland. ”The company has demonstrated its commitment to the livestock industry with its recent investment in new exhibition hall facilities.” Scott Donaldson, Harrison & Hetherington sales director, said: “We are delighted to have Neil join us. As a business we have continued to invest both in facilities and our people and this is another demonstration of our commitment to the livestock industry across the UK.” Over the coming months Neil, who is based at Dundee, will be visiting livestock producers across Scotland to discuss their requirements and he will be attending all the major agricultural events. Married to Sandra, a scientist at the Scottish Crop Research Institute, they have two sons. Neil is an accomplished accordion player and a former Scottish accordion champion.
