A total of 1,700 schedules detailing competitive classes are now being sent to interested parties in advance of the show in Corbridge on May 30 this year.

The show is famous for almost 800 competitive classes for agricultural livestock, poultry and horses, plus its popular competitive home crafts and stick dressing sections.

Last year, the Show attracted more than 3,500 competitive entrants who travelled from all over the UK to take part.

John Woodman, President of show organiser Tynedale Agricultural Society, said: “The Show is a wonderful event, bringing town and country people together for a big day every year and showing townspeople what farming is really all about.

“The mix of agricultural competitive classes and demonstrations alongside attractions like the monster trucks, bands and music is a popular one, and allows people entering competitive home crafts and stick dressing to compete alongside farmers entering the highly competitive agricultural sections.”

With more than 350 trade stands, spectacular main arena events, and nationally renowned agricultural and equine sections, Northumberland County Show is the highlight of the agricultural year in the region and a major annual attraction.

In addition to the popular parade of the Tynedale hounds, heavy horses sponsored by Coop Funeral Services, and the Northern Farmer Champion of Champions’ Parade, this year’s main ring attractions include monster trucks ‘The Grim Reaper’ and ‘Big Pete’, back by popular demand.

The show field will also host numerous marquees and stands plus a children’s funfair, live cookery demonstrations from leading chefs, bands and dancers, a working milking parlour and a shearing shed, bee-keeping displays, free parking and easy rail access.

The Show also features competitive heavy and light horse sections and livestock classes for cattle, sheep, goat, alpaca, dogs, poultry, cavies, rabbits, stick dressing, competitive home crafts, and Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling.

Northumberland County Show 2011 is on Monday, May 30 at Tynedale Park, Corbridge, 9am-6pm, free parking and easy access on the train from Carlisle and Newcastle.

Schedules are available to download at www.northcountyshow.co.uk or send a sae to the Show Office, Hexham Mart, Tynegreen, Hexham, NE46 2BS, stating which schedule you require.

Discounted advance tickets for the Show are available online at www.netaticket.com, tel 0845 230 5177.
