Aberdeen-Angus Bulls Sell to 4650gns at Bristol

Aberdeen-Angus bulls sold to a peak of 4650gns at Bristol on 14 April, with the sale gaining an international flavour after one bull sold to Canada.

Topping the trade was the reserve male champion from the pre-sale show Dark Lane Ramsey J362 from Messrs Pittams. This March 2009-born Rawburn Duke Windsor son is out of Dark Lane Rosaline D154, a Dark Lane Jasper daughter and sold with a TSI of +28 and an SRI of +38. Buying this one were R D and M A Spendlove, Belper, Derbyshire.

Next best of 3800gns was achieved for Melview Gareth K053 from Paul and Kirsty Westaway. This one, an ET son of Summitcrest Complete was sold in absentee as he is currently at UK Sire Services ready for semen collection. He is out of FHCC Georgia 264, a Circle A 216 daughter and has a TSI of +38 and an SRI of +51. He is also the highest rated genomically tested Angus bull in Europe and is in the top 15% of bulls tested worldwide for meat tendeness and was snapped up by Canadian buyers O’Connor Land and Farms, Toronto, Ontario.

Trading at 3000gns was another from the same home, Melview Gordon K046. Again ET bred this January 2010-born bull is by SS Objective T510 and is a maternal brother to Gareth. He has a TSI of +39 and an SRI of +51. Buying this one was Peter Sherwin, Cockermouth.

Making 2050gns was Blackacre Bonnie Lad J101 from John Biggs. This May 2009-born entry is a son of Rawburn Lord Rob and is out of Blackacre Beauty G029, a Penguin Jimbo daughter. He traded with a TSI of +36 and an SRI of +54, being knocked down to G H Price and Co, Walton, Presteigne.

In the females on offer the best call of 2200gns was made for the first lot in the ring, Netherton Janira Erica D301 forward from Katherine Russel. Bred by the McLaren family at Netherton she is a daughter of Netherton Royal Sovereign A072 and out of Nehterton Janira Erica Z017, a Darlene Cruz daughter.

Sold suckling her heifer calf Rull Janira Erica K120, a Muirhall Top Deal daughter, she has a TSI of +27 and an SRI of +33 and was bought by M W Harris, Llanifhen, Chepstow.

Next best at 1750gns was the female champion Rull Evita K112 from Edward Jones. This February 2010-born Muirhall Top Deal daughter is out of Rull Evita E041, a Rawburn Transformer daughter and has a TSI of +24 and an SRI of +36. She sold to S R and W R Ball, Charfield, Wooton-Under-Edge, Gloucestershire.

Averages; nine bulls £2577.75, nine females £1309.35; Easton Greys draft nine females £1097.25 (McCartneys).
