Gunnar, another Goldwyn son but with a quite different wider pedigree, enters the Holstein rankings with a similarly impressive combination of £182 PLI and +2.74 Type Merit, and – with a Mammary score of +2.96 – is the most profitable udder improving Holstein currently available. Gunnar’s dam is the Ford daughter Ivonne who has outstanding production, and his grand dam is one of the few Elwillo daughters in Germany. She goes back directly to the foundation cow of the family, the famous Ugela Bell daughter Gourmette EX 92 from France, through the VG 89 Aerostar daughter Imperial.
Gunnar is available from Bullsemen.com at £26.50/straw.
At £19.50/straw from Bullsemen.com, Goldboy is another Goldwyn son of exceptional value. With a similar pedigree to Gunnar, Goldboy is a top 10 Type Merit bull at +3.01 and is another with very strong Mammary credentials at +2.74.
Goldboy is exceptional for Legs & Feet, inside the top 20 for the breed at +2.54, and his strong functionality is reflected in a Lifespan score of +0.3. He is £148 PLI, which is indicative of good all-round production traits, and with 77 daughters in 60 herds has good reliability for a first release bull.
