New Schäffer 9380T Telescopic Handler at Grassland 2011
2011-04-20

With the launch of the 9380T, Schäffer Loaders UK & Ireland presents the first in a new generation of pivot steer telescopic loaders with a lift height of 6.9m. The machine has been developed for the demands of large scale farming, contractors and for alternative industries such as biogas plants and recycling operations.

The new Schäffer 9380T pivot-steer telescopic handler is on static display on stand no. 409 at Grassland & Muck 2011 at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire on May 18 & 19.

It combines the good all-round visibility of a wheeled loader but with the lift height and reach of a rigid telescopic machine.

The operating weight of the new loader is 15 tonnes and it has a tipping capacity of approximately 5 tonnes – combining this with the lift height of 6.90m, this new machine from Schäffer targets users who previously only had the option of a four-wheel steer rigid machine. The boom has a two-stage operation, so for example the loading of a diet feeder may require only the first stage to be activated, lifting to a maximum height of 5.75m. If the full range of lift height is required, the second stage is automatically activated. Ferro-Form sliding elements guarantee trouble-free operation of the telescopic action over many hours of cycle time.

The principle of the pivot-steer machine allows the operator station to be positioned centrally, giving an uncompromised view in all directions. This allows optimum machine performance to be delivered, giving rise to highly productive cycle times. Ergonomics inside the cab are class-leading; the ‘SCV’ cab (Silence/Comfort/View) is perfect for long working days, and is one of the most spacious and comfortable cabs in this sector. All hydraulic operating functions and the direction control are located on the joystick, leaving the operator’s left hand in continuous contact with the steering wheel. The joystick position is adjustable, with height and incline altered to suit the operator’s needs. The armrest, joystick and seat form a complete unit, ensuring the best comfort level and ease of use. Air conditioning is standard equipment.

Load-sensing hydraulics provide up to 195 litres/min of flow, allowing all operating functions to perform at their best capacity even at low engine speed. The load sensing pump will only deliver oil flow if it is required, therefore reducing the operating temperature of the oil and keeping power loss to a minimum. The water-cooled Deutz common-rail turbocharged diesel engine is extremely efficient, and is available with options of 180 or 210hp (132 or 155kW). The engine cooling system also comes equipped as standard with a reversing fan, allowing trouble-free operation in dusty working conditions.

Designed specifically for the high demands of agricultural applications, the new STS (Schäffer Triple Speed) transmission has been developed. Delivering force of more than 130kN, this hydrostatic drive will deliver sufficient traction for the most demanding tasks. The operator can choose between three different speed ranges - change between ranges is possible while travelling in forward or reverse and under load, without loss of traction force. Two oil motors, which are switched independently from each other, provide stepless and powerful acceleration, and all drive components are perfectly matched. When travelling along the road at higher speeds, the second oil motor automatically disconnects, thus reducing power consumption, and fuel is transformed economically and effectively into performance. Maximum speed is 40kph.

The 9380T is equipped with 650/55R26.5 tyres, which are available in agricultural or industrial profiles. These tyre options supply the required traction in all conditions, combined with good stability, which is enhanced by the oscillating rear axle.

In combining the lift capacity, hydraulic and engine performance with the SCV cab and STS transmission, Schäffer has developed the perfect match for silage clamps, muck loading and bulk materials handling in a pivot-steer package.
