Major Livestock Industry Event Scheduled for Carlisle
The Borderway Agri-Expo, hosted by Harrison & Hetherington and held at Borderway, Carlisle, Cumbria, will return in 2018 following on from the unprecedented success of the event in 2017, which attracted over 13,000 visitors.
Borderway Agri-Expo, which will be held on Friday 2nd November 2018, has proved itself to be a true celebration of British livestock farming and showcasing the best of livestock from around the UK.
Now into its 12th year, the Agri-Expo goes from strength to strength and is now recognised as a leading industry platform not only for world class livestock, but increasingly for knowledge exchange, industry discussions, key announcements and product launches as well as demonstrating technical innovation.
In 2017 this winter showcase saw over 900 livestock entries across the various classes, as well as hundreds of trade stands and exhibitors from the length and breadth of the country.
Representatives from many of the British Livestock Sheep and Cattle Breeds were in attendance, with their leading industry spokespersons, and livestock representing the best of their breeds.
Further endorsing the importance of this event Agri- Expo has also received the support of the same mainline sponsors as in previous years, namely Carrs Billington, Morrisons, Norbrook, Lloyds Bank and Farmers Guardian.
On announcing details of this year’s event Harrison & Hetherington’s
Operations Director and Event Organiser David
Pritchard said:
“Borderway
Agri Expo is now established as one of the leading industry events
and every year we see growing interest and enthusiasm. It provides
the industry with a focal point to discuss key issues, learn new
developments, negotiate business contracts, and meet with like-minded
individuals. It also attracts world class livestock which fiercely
compete to be awarded a much valued Agri-Expo Championship rosette
– now recognised throughout the world”.
“Harrison & Hetherington are the UK’s largest livestock trading organisation, and as such we are proud to host this event and feel it offers our industry a vital platform to support each other. Recent years have been challenging for many sectors within agriculture, and we feel members of the farming industry value an opportunity to come together in a positive environment to discuss the future direction of their business.”
This is possible with the wide range of trade stands in attendance – everything from machinery and equipment, livestock handling and management systems, as well as specialist advice on feed and nutrition and livestock genetics.
As a company Harrison and Hetherington have always places a great emphasis on supporting the skills of the younger generation and future farmers and once again the Young Farmers classes and Young Handlers classes will be one of the highlights of the day.
