North Eastern Limousin Cattle Breeders Show and Sale

Hexham and Northern Marts held their Inaugural Limousin Prize Show and Sale of Bulls and Females, kindly sponsored by “Farm Matters” Farm Software on Wednesday 18th May 2016.

Overseeing the judging proceedings was Mr Jim Bloom (Scorboro Herd), Yorkshire.  After four preliminary classes of bulls Mr Bloom tapped out the Hafodlas Garnedd son, Almande Jethro from M/s A Morgan and TC Johnson as the Overall Champion, which then went on to sell for 3800gns to M/s Potts, Black Callerton. Standing Reserve was Barrons Likeleylad from local breeder, Willie Barron, Co. Durham. This Mereside Godolphine son headed north to Berwick for 4200gns with Mr A Carse, South Ord.

Topping the sale was a well grown, well bred, Powerhouse Elite son from M/s Rochester & Murray, Glebe Farm.  Haneve Joey sold for 6200gns to regular Hexham store cattle consignors, M/s G&EA Herdman, Lunns Houses.

Senior bulls were in big demand with the first bull in the ring, Widdrington Jackpot selling for 4800gns.

Topping the heifer trade was Kaprico Laurel which sold for 2000gns. Next in the maiden heifer rankings was Towdypotts Jazz from M/s JWR & M Suddes, Wolsingham which realised 1260gns.

Following the Limousin Bulls and Females the company conducted the dispersal sdale of the Rookerhill Herd of Pedigree Limousins on behalf of M/s SF & EH Dale, Helperby, Yorkshire.  Topping the sale was first calver, Rookerhill Lily.  This Fieldson Alfy daughter released for 2300gns and headed home with M/s GH Walton & Sons, Greyside Farm, Hexham.  Next was Rookerhill Jilly who went home with M/s JC & SE Little, Wigton, Cumbria for 1900gns.

The company would like to thank all vendors and purchasers for their contribution to this the inaugural Sale which was a great success and sure to become an annual feature within the sales diary at Hexham.

Also on this day Hexham and Northern Marts held their Annual May Term Sale of Beef Breeding Cattle

An absolutely top class show of Heifers with Calves at foot forward which was testament to all of the vendors hard work in presenting such a show.

Topping at £2700 for a fantastic first cross Limousin Heifer and Limousin calf consigned by M/s R Ridley & Sons, Mickley Moor Farm.

With a full ringside of potential purchasers many more outfits could have been sold to vendor advantage.
