Mobile ‘App’ Speeds Up Cattle Tag Ordering

Nordic Star, part of the NMR Group, has developed and launched a specialised mobile app for smart phones and tablets this autumn. Downloaded free of charge from the Apple and Google Play stores, it allows livestock producers to order new or replacement tags whilst ‘on the go’.

“Farmers can order the tags off their ‘phones or tablets when they are checking stock and away from the office,” says business manager Justin Frankfort. “Tags are printed on receipt of the order and, for replacement tag orders received before 3pm on any working day, they will be despatched in first class post that day. Tag payment is taken at the point of dispatch, using the customer’s existing payment methods.”

The mobile app was developed by the Nordic Star web site team so there is good connectivity and compatibility between the two on line ordering services adding to the service’s reliability.

“We’ve trialled this latest development with a group of farmers and it’s worked very efficiently with tags back on farm the day after ordering,” adds Mr Frankfort. “Users found it very convenient and immediate – no scribbling reminders in the field or additional admin jobs later in the day. And, often, it meant they could make the dispatch deadline on the day of ordering.”

Nordic Star tags have a reputation for their high quality and retention rate that is currently 98.4% based on four years of independent research.

Nordic Star will be exhibiting at AgriScot, Edinburgh, Scotland (Nov16) and the Royal Ulster Fair, Lisburn, Northern Ireland (Dec 8).
