Record Average for North Country Cheviot Hill Rams
Wednesday 20th September 2017 saw the annual show and sale of North Country Cheviot Hill rams at Lockerbie where a record average of £1037.80 was achieved – a rise of £255.16 on the year.
Topping the sale and achieving a new centre record of £9000 were Messrs Bridgewater and Wood, Potholm, Langholm with their 2 shear ram Esk Tremor who was sired by Whitchesters Salvo. He was purchased by Cheviot Farming Ltd, Elsdonburn.

Messrs M & S Wilson, Newbank, Beattock sold their Hethpool Lancer sired 2 shear for £8000 in a half share to Messrs Baillie, Calla and Mr Fox, St Johns Kirk.
Messrs Bridgewater and Wood sold another 2 shear, their first into the ring and also a Whitchesters Salvo son, for £6000 purchased by Mr Alan Cowan of Philiphaugh Estates.
Kelso Talbot from Kelsocleugh Farming Co, Yetholm was the next best when he sold for £5500 to Messrs M & S Wilson, Newbank.
J Hepburn & Co, Northhouse Farm, Hawick sold a Northhouse Regal sired ram for £3800 to Raehills Farms Ltd, Lockerbie.
The first 2 shear forward from Philiphaugh Estate sold for £3200. Sired by Elsdonburn Maximus the successfully bidder was Messrs Dunlop & Son, Commonside, Hawick. Also at the same money was W & J Thomson’s Hownam Grange Senator sired ram which sold to J Hepburn & Co.
RJ Tweedie & Co, Buchtrig, Jedburgh sold a Whitchesters Nigel son for £3000 to Mr W Porter, East Scryne, Angus.
