Beltex Sweep the Board at English Winter Fair
Beltex sired lambs and carcasses dominated the prizes in all classes at the English Winter Fair Stafford November 18th and 19th 2017.
Robert Garth from Bentham ably supported by Sarah Priestley continued his run of form by winning the overall lamb championship for the second consecutive time at the event with a pair of Beltex sired wether lambs by a Dean Brow tup with a combined weight of 81.4 kg. The champion pair of lambs sold for £550 per head at the auction selling to the judge Jonathan Maycock, Matlock.

Robert and Sarah have enjoyed tremendous success having taken the reserve supreme spot at Agri Expo, Carlisle and winning the supreme champion pair of lambs at Agrifest Exeter. Team Garth's next stop is at Livescot Lanark where Robert has been allocated space for three pairs of lambs on the Priestley wagon taking cattle to the prestigous Scottish Winter Fair.
The Reserve supreme championship was won by H & E Williams from Llanddeusant, Anglesey with a pair of pure Beltex lambs.
The carcass championship went to an excellent 27kg E3H lamb from B Blandford and Sons, Hereford. this one being sired by a ram purchased from the Shuttleworth's at Gargrave Skipton.
Richard Lancaster from Clitheroe won the single lamb championship.
Harvey Heath won the strongly contested young breeders championship with his Beltex lamb.
Finally Madders and Johnson from Stafford took the live/dead championship with Beltex x lambs making it a clean sweep for the Beltex breed at the event.
