TFA Roadshows Focus on Post Brexit Opportunities

The Tenant Farmers Association (TFA) is holding seven meetings across England through January and February to provide some post Brexit signposts for tenant farmers and others who do not own the land they farm.

TFA Chief Executive, George Dunn, said;
“As MPs return to their desks following the Christmas break, there is still much to consider and potentially more that could change before they vote in next week’s crucial Commons debate.

However, farming and farm businesses cannot stand still. Farmers need to plan for the long term. With the economic and policy environments within which we will be operating remaining uncertain, there is an even greater need for farm businesses to control what they can to ensure that whatever happens they are in the strongest position to respond.”

“Farmers who do not own the land that they use within their businesses face a very different set of circumstances in comparison to their owner occupier neighbours. They must contend with understanding the nature of their land occupation, what they can and cannot do under the terms of their agreements, and how they manage the relationship with those that own the land they farm.

Working as far as possible in harmony with the owner of the ground is by far the best approach but we also need to assist members when there is a breakdown in that relationship as businesses still needs to progress. All of these areas will be looked at in our meetings,” said Mr Dunn.

The TFA is delighted to be working alongside the agricultural team from Barclays Bank who will be assisting in delivering the roadshow of meetings across the country.“We have worked with Barclays on number a of occasions over past years and we are grateful to the Bank’s agricultural team for its support with these important meetings,” said Mr Dunn.
