NEMSA Chairman Crowned Mule Champion at Great Yorkshire Show

NEMSA chairman Kevin Wilson and his son, James, who farm in Blubberhouses, were crowned North of England Mule champions at the 2019 Great Yorkshire Show.

They took the championship with with the first prize single gimmer lamb, a product of their home-bred Bluefaced Leicester tup, Hewness L1, himself a son of the renowned Harland F1 Bighead.

Kevin & James Wilson also stood second in the same show class with another L1 daughter, as well as picking up a first and second prize double in the pair of lambs show class, one by Bighead, the other by another of his sons, Hewness L4.

The reserve champion with the first prize geld shearling was Philip Elliot, of Penrith, who picked up two further red rosettes with wins in the single shearling and ewe with pair of lambs show classes.

The pair of suckled shearlings show class fell to Mike and Betty Allen, from Whitby. Show judge was NEMSA treasurer Jeff Burrow.
