It was a three-quarters British Blue, one-quarter Limousin bull from Calderdale duo David and Stephen Hollings, of Spinks Hill Farm, Pecket Well, Hebden Bridge, that earned the first place rosette from judge Keith Bowes, of Bilbrough, York, selling to a buyer from the same area, Stephen Swales, of Melbourne, York.
Mr Swales paid £1,040, top price in show, for the son of Ayrshire-based Netherwood Vinny, out of a home-bred cow. He also acquired the runner-up from Martin Lee, Fence, Burnley, for £950
CCM 2008 Stockperson of the Year Jimmy Baines, of Trawden, took third place, his charge knocked down for £1,030 to JB Eastwood & Sons, Emley, Huddersfield.
The show, held on a day when 444 head of cattle passed through the mart, was sponsored by national agricultural insurance firm Towergate Risk Solutions.
