British meat and livestock producers will be launching a concentrated
effort to open new markets and regain old ones across Europe this
year as restrictions on British beef exports are due to be lifted.
Three major shows - in Poland, Romania and Germany - will be the
focus of attention for a promotional push co-ordinated by the Meat
and Livestock Commission (MLC).
Stands, which will represent the English Beef and Lamb Executive
(EBLEX), British Pig Executive (BPEX), Meat Promotion Wales (HCC);
British Livestock Genetics Consortium (BLG) plus individual breeding
companies and livestock groups, will highlight all the best of
British cattle, sheep and pigs.
The shows are at Poznan, Poland on October 5 to 8; Bucharest,
Romania from November 8 to 12 and Hanover, Germany form November
14 to 17.
Jean-Pierre Garnier, MLC Meat Export Manager, said: "The
expansion of the EU has given us a perfect opportunity to show
the best of British produce and break into new markets.
"At these shows all the British meat and livestock groups
will be able to support one another so we can have the maximum
possible impact."
Export companies wishing to take part should contact Jean-Pierre
Garnier on 01908 844348.
