There's just days to go until this year's Great Yorkshire Show
opens to the public at the Showground at Harrogate.

Exhibitors are putting the final touches to their displays and
entrants in classes for everything from honey to showjumping and
cattle to sheep-shearing are gearing up to face the competition.
A new attraction at this year's show, which runs from Tuesday 11
to Thursday 13 July, is the first-ever Great Yorkshire Beer Trail.
"The new trail and the displays of regional food are sure
to be popular features" said Honorary Show Director, Bill
Cowling. "It makes complete at an agricultural show to link
the region's food and drink, particularly in Yorkshire where the
standard is second to none."
Featuring some of the region's top tipples, it offers visitors
the chance to learn more about the brewing industry and the breweries
themselves - as well as sample some of their products!
At the British Beer & Pub Association's Barley to Beer marquee,
there's the opportunity to learn about every aspect of the beer-making
process, along with a display of old brewing instruments.
Masham's Black Sheep Brewery will be present with its ever-popular
stand, featuring a prize draw to win a hamper crammed with Black
Sheep goodies and the chance to snap up souvenirs. At the T& R
Theakston Brewery Stand, each day visitors can watch master cooper
Jonathan Manby making a cask and be in with a chance of winning
their own handmade cask filled with Old Peculier ale, plus an overnight
stay at the King's Head Hotel in Masham.
Daleside Brewery in Harrogate will also have a strong presence
on the Trail. As well as a stand offering samples of its range
of ales - including Daleside Bitter, Blonde and Special Bitter
- there will be daily tutorials by experts. Topics to be covered
include ingredients used in the beer and how best to store and
serve your beer to enjoy it at its best.
In addition, Daleside is sponsoring Eat More Beer in the Great
Yorkshire Cheese and Dairy Cookery Theatre, where chef Richard
Fox will demonstrate the art of matching and cooking cheese and
dairy with beer at 2pm each day.
If innovative style and chic is what you are looking for, then
be sure to catch the demonstrations by chefs Richard Walton Allen
and Louise McCrimmon of Harvey Nichols in Leeds, also taking place
in the Cookery Theatre.
Richard is head chef at the store's Fourth Floor restaurant and
Louise, his senior sous chef, trained at Leith's School of Food
and Wine in London.
Superb local produce is always a key feature of the Show and visitors
can taste and buy everything from pates to pies and cakes to curry
sauces from hundreds of food stands.
The Food Show provides the ideal link between the farmers as food
producers and their customers. Many - but not all - exhibitors
are members of Deliciouslyorkshire, the brand which promotes the
region's food and drink.
At a separate cookery theatre in association with the Yorkshire
Agricultural Society, a wealth of culinary delights includes former
Yorkshire Life Chef of the Year, Stephanie Moon, who celebrates
the county with signature dishes from the Clock Tower Restaurant
at Rudding Park in Harrogate. Putting the fun back into the kitchen
will be Yorkshire's Cooking Canons, Canon Brian Abell and Canon
Leslie Morley, who will be creating stunning dishes with panache
in support of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.
With something to appeal to every palate, the fabulous array of
food at this year's Great Yorkshire Show is sure to be to everyone's
taste!
