More than 40 diners, who will also include EU trade journalists
and leaders of the British meat industry, will get the chance to
swap ideas and taste an "assiete" of British beef comprising
meat from Aberdeen Angus, Welsh Black, Sussex and South Devon cattle.
The event is aimed at promoting a positive image of British beef
with a focus on top quality meat and its culinary qualities in the
hands of expert chef James Martin.
Co-funded by EBLEX, HCC and QMS, the event is also designed to be
a springboard for foreign buyers to visit Britain and see for themselves
the quality of our livestock and production systems.
Peter Barr, Meat and Livestock Commission Chairman, said: "Exports
are vital to support our own home markets and ensure a fair return
to producers and to that end encouraging more trade abroad is extremely
important.
"In Europe, of course, there is a whole new generation of consumers
who are yet to be introduced to the quality and flavour of our beef.
I would like to thank His Royal Highness for helping our industry
achieve its aims."
This year it is estimated exports will reach 30,000 tonnes and this
figure could rise to 100,000 tonnes in the next three years.
