Improved Lamb Milks From Trouw Nutrition
26/11/06

An enhanced nutritional package and improved mixing characteristics are the key benefits for flockmasters from the newly formulated Trouw Nutrition Milkivit Denkamilk lamb milks for the 2007 lambing season.

Both the highly digestible skim-based Lamb Traditional and the high energy (30% oil) whey-based Lacto Lamb are now fully fortified with a nutritional booster package to give lambs a better start. The milks also benefit from better mixing and stability characteristics, says the company.

“The two distinctive milks benefit particularly from extra natural vitamin E for greater lamb vigour and immunity,” explains product manager Jessica Miller from Trouw Nutrition.

“There is considerable evidence that vitamin E has a considerable impact on the performance of lambs. But we now know that natural forms of vitamin E are retained better and for longer than synthetic sources. Indeed, the availability of natural vitamin E for use by the body is around double that of synthetic forms,” she points out

“We have also included Beta Glucans in the milks – these are powerful molecules that help optimise growth and performance. Both products also benefit from the addition of Protimax – proven concentrated albumins rich in specific proteins that will help lambs meet the challenges of early life on UK farms. The aim with the range is to mirror ewe milk as closely as possible, but add appropriate nutritional enhancements to ensure lambs that don’t have access to ewe milk following colostrums still get the best chance of a flying start. And if you give them the best start, we know you will improve lifetime feeding efficiency and vigour,” she says.

The Milkivit Denkamilk range is also fully acidified, which keeps the products fresh after mixing for up to 24 hours and allows the milk to be fed cool ad-lib through simple teat feeders without over consumption.

Both Lamb Traditional and Lacto Lamb are available in large and small packs, with free-flow variations available for automatic feeding machines.
