“The British sheep industry is the largest in Europe, it has a dynamic breeding programme and a vast selection of breeds to offer,” explains British Livestock Genetics Consortium chairman, Henry Lewis. “We are currently witnessing immense interest in our genetics, in particular from the new EU-27 member states who are seeking to restock and progress their respective sheep sectors.”

Mr Lewis will be discussing potential worldwide trading opportunities for British sheep genetics at a breakfast briefing. He will be joined by Wes Bluhm, of the International Agriculture and Technology Centre which is also supporting the event. “NSA North Sheep will showcase the full range of UK products and services available to the international sheep industry. The IATC is pleased to participate and to be able to assist in bringing international visitors to the event so that they can see and experience the UK benefit for themselves,” says Mr Bluhm.

NSA North Sheep organiser, Julie Sedgewick comments: “We are extremely proud of our sheep industry, its efficiency and having the ability to produce world class lamb. The opportunity to offer some of our skills and resources overseas is an extremely positive move forward at a time when our industry continues to contract and that interest is accompanied by a welcome financial boost.”
