A strong commercial strong trade for Charolais led bidding to peak at 6,000gns and achieve near clearance in Dungannon, on Monday 2 June at the Northern Ireland Charolais Club’s June show and sale.

A strong commercial strong trade for Charolais led bidding to peak at 6,000gns and achieve near clearance in Dungannon, on Monday 2 June at the Northern Ireland Charolais Club’s June show and sale.
The day’s leader at 6,000gns was the champion, Kiltybane Best, an 18 month old Maerdy Impeccable son and out of a homebred cow from S and A Bellew, Newry. The buyer was John Causey, Cookstown.
The overall reserve champion, Mullaghbane Classic was next in the price stakes at 4,700gns to commercial producer, Arthur Devlin, Ballycastle. Bred and exhibited by Fred Elliott, Florencecourt, Classic was a March 2006 born Doonally New son and out of a homebred cow going back to Beechmount Charles.
Another Doonally New son, this time Aughafad Clive was placed first in his class and commanded a bid of 3,900gns from Robert Keys at Donemana. Bred by Robert Sinnamon, Pomeroy, the 17 month old Clive was out of a homebred cow going back to Thrunton Nostradamus.
John Causey, Cookstown offered his best at 3,800gns to John Mulvenna, Larne. Toblerone Cambridge was a 12 month old youngster by Doonally Nicefor and out of a homebred Doonally New sired daughter.
Next at 3,600gns was Craemill Belfastboy, an 18 month old by the 14,000gns Allanfauld Superscot and out of a homebred cow going back to Doonally New. Bred by Noel McCrea, Coagh, Belfastboy was knocked down sold to Edward Conn, Limavady.
First class winner, Killadeas Corporal from Stuart and David Bothwell, Ballinamallard made 3,500gns to Leslie Galway, Downpatrick. A 14 month old, Corporal was by Brampton Embark and out of a Celtic bred cow.
The same father and son partnership led the female section at 3,300gns with their first class prize winner, Killadeas Beverely. Sired by Dunlon Ulick and out of a homebred dam by Brampton Embark, this 21 month old maiden sold to John McMordie, Ballygowan.
Next at 2,800gns was John Erskine’s Dartonhall Bessie, a two year old maiden by the Balmoral reserve interbreed champion, Ashleigh Victor. The buyer was Vivian Gee, Dungannon.
The supreme female award went to Harold Crawford’s (Fintona) Tonaghmore Caroline, a 16 month old maiden by Crannon Vincent, and out of a homebred dam by the 28,000gns Perth champion, Brampton Nacodar. She was knocked down sold for 2,400gns to Chris Throne, Strabane.
