The full spectrum of marketing, technical and sheep health issues will be up for discussion and debate at a series of seminars and panels supported by Farmers Weekly, at NSA Sheep 2010, the industry’s biennial event to be held at the Three Counties Show Ground, Malvern on Tuesday 3 August by the National Sheep Association and co-organiser, the Three Counties Agricultural Society.

Visitors will be able to field their questions on marketing at a midday panel featuring speakers selected from the supply chain; Paris based Remi Fourrier representing EBLEX, Marks & Spencer’s Steve MacLean, Mayhill Lamb’s Henry Dunn and Worcester farmer, Geoff Probert.

Solutions to the numerous challenges and issues thrown up by EID will be provided at the lunchtime panel featuring Defra’s Terry Gurnhill, auctioneer, Ted Ogden and Shearwell’s Richard Webber. The day’s third panel debate, UK genetics, fit for purpose? will see UK sheep breeder, Neil McGowan and New Zealander, Murray Rolhoff come head to head with Signet’s Sam Boom squaring the circle on the contribution of performance recorded sheep.

Worm resistance management will be discussed by Novartis’ Simon Harris, lameness will be brought under the microscope by Intervet Shearing Plough’s Jennifer O’Connor accompanied by FAI Farms’ vet, Ruth Clements, while English Nature’s Robin Tucker will explain how the body regards sheep as an environmental management tool in a sustainable farming strategy.
