Impressively, Edge is the highest Terminal Index (TI) bull ever to be bred in the UK. In the top 1% of the breed, his TI figure boasts +55 – immense when compared to the breed average +21.
With a Self Replacing Index (SRI) of +66, also in the top 1% of the breed, stocks of his semen have been in widespread demand from forward thinking, profit-driven beef producers.
Milk (+11) and Eye Muscle Area (+7) are also areas in which Edge excels, allowing him to suit all markets by offering superb replacements and elite finishers.
At only £12 per straw, Edge is the first commercially priced bull of his stature, enabling breeders of all foundations to have access to the benefits this top-class sire brings.
From excellent stock, Edge is a Rawburn Lord Histar G722 son, who is a homebred grandson from the legendary Rawburn Transformer; responsible for adding great shape, growth rate and figures to UK Aberdeen Angus.
His dam, Rawburn Ellen Erica D298, is a daughter of Hoff Limited Edition, who is out of the renowned Rawburn-owned Canadian donor cow, Cudlobe Ellen Erica.
Edge’s outstanding figures run clear through his bloodline as family member, Rawburn El Torro, was also the highest TI sire in 2008.
‘Edge is more than a set of impressive performance figures’ said breeder, John Elliot (Snr). ‘His structural correctness, docile temperament and immense breed character make him one of the most complete bulls we have ever bred’.
Boomer Birch, Cogent’s Beef Specialist responsible for the procurement of Edge added: ‘Not only does this bull have superb EBV’s, he also has outstanding conformation; length, with strength and width through the loin – sheer style’.
