The business has also been shortlisted for the first time for the deliciouslyorkshire awards, being chosen as one of six finalists in the ‘Best Retailer of Local Produce’ category.

The Butcher's Shop of the Year Awards are renowned as the premier event for the UK butchery sector. They recognise excellence and winners enter an exclusive group representing the best of British butchery. The finals are at The Landmark, London, on Wednesday, November 16.

Those shortlisted for the seventh annual deliciouslyorkshire awards are recognised as the crème de la crème of Yorkshire food and drink businesses. They celebrate the elite of the region’s food and drink industry and applaud the exceptional achievements producers have made throughout the year. This year’s winners will be announced at at Rudding Park, Harrogate, on Monday, November 14.

Keelham Farm Shop is no stranger to success in the awards arena. The business was chosen as ‘Non-Multiple Retailer of the Year’ in the national Food and Farming Industry Awards, and was runner-up in both the National Farm Retailer of the Year and Best On-Farm Butchery categories of the National Farmers’ Retail & Markets Association annual awards 2011.

A guide published by the Independent newspaper also named Keelham as one of the top three farm shops in Yorkshire and one of the best 50 in the UK.

Regionally, the people of Bradford voted the shop as Telegraph & Argus Retail or Hospitality Business of the Year, while Keelham was a finalist for the second consecutive year in theYorkshire Post’s Business in Excellence Awards. It was also highly commended in 2010 Taste Yorkshire Awards for its Yorkshire pork, rhubarb and mango sausages.

Keelham’s Victoria Robertshaw said: ”To get through to the finals of the Butcher’s Shop of the Year awards for the third consecutive year is, we believe, unprecedented. Great credit is due to our team of master butchers, who hand-make many of our unique products, award winners among them, in-house.

“It’s also the first time we have reached the finals of the deliciouslyorkshire awards and to be in with a chance of winning the best retailer of local produce accolade is a major achievement in itself.

“Keelham Farm Shop remains one of the most successful and progressive farm shops in the country - and one of the region’s largest shop windows for Yorkshire’s produce.

“We support 250 Yorkshire producers and suppliers – many farmers among them - and at any time during a year, depending on seasonal availability, there will be over 1,000 different Yorkshire-sourced products to buy in the shop.

“Our total commitment to Yorkshire produce makes a real difference and continues to have a huge impact on the contribution we make to the local and Yorkshire-wide economy.

“We want our customers to enjoy eating fantastic meals from the best available Yorkshire ingredients. Perhaps that is why we now serve over 8,000 shoppers a week – and why we continue to make such a major impact in the local, regional and national awards arenas.”
