Checking Out New Meat
Markets
MISSIONS to help British meat firms export to the new members
of the EU are being held in February and March.
The events are being jointly organised by the Meat and Livestock
Commission (MLC) and the British Pig Association (BPA) and will
be visiting Hungary and the Czech Republic.
The programme includes visits to meat plants and trade outlets
as well as presentations. Grants, to cover travel and accommodation,
are available for small and medium sized firms, organised through
UK Trade Investment department.
The missions will be led by MLC Export Marketing Manager Jean-Pierre
Garnier who said: "Both markets are traditionally large consumers
of pig meat products and the Czech Republic is already importing
substantial quantities. "Lamb represents a growing market
and is increasingly popular in restaurants as the standard of living
in both countries is improving fast."
