Milk
Link announces result of Cumbria and south west Scotland council
election
17/02/05
Milk Link, one of the UK's leading dairy co-operatives, has announced
the results of its Council Member Election for Cumbria and South
West Scotland. Kevin Beaty of Hill Top Farm, Carlisle, Chris Johnston
of Skirwith Abbey, Cumbria and Tommy MacTaggart of Rascarrel Farm,
Castle Douglas will represent the interests of local Milk Link
members on the Council.
The Member Council is an important decision-making body. It is
responsible for the election of the farmer-elected directors to
the Milk Link Governing Board and is also required to approve any
grant of the Members Guarantee as security for any borrowings by
Milk Link. The Council is also a vital two-way communications link
between the Membership and Board.
The three Council Members for Cumbria and South West Scotland
have been Milk Link members since April 2004.
Mark Brooking, Membership Director, said, "I congratulate
Kevin Beaty, Chris Johnston and Tommy MacTaggart on their successful
appointment as representatives of their local group in Cumbria
and South West Scotland. The Member Council is an important part
of the decision making process and is a vital communication link
between Milk Link's senior management and the co-operative's 2,500
members."
