he leading price of 4,000gns secured the supreme champion shown by Caylers Charolais of Hertfordshire at the Charolais Society March show and sale. Caylers Umbro, a May 2003 born son of Doonally New and out of a Newthrums Regal bred daughter, was sold to JH McIndoe of Rankinston, Ayrshire. Also selling for 4,000gns was Reddings Uriah from Mrs J Wilson of Moffat. Uriah, born July 2003 sired by Balthayock Matthews and bred from a Kersknowe Fortune mother, was sold to RH Gladstone & Co of Thornhill, near Dumfries. Following at 3,200gns was Gwenog Utaha which was unfortunately not shown as he was bred by the judge JS Howells of Ceredigion. Utaha was sired by Derryharney Outstanding and sold carrying a beef value of 26, he was purchased by JH Pridgeon of Louth, Lincs. The next bull to enter the sale ring was Alsnow Upright from Northumberland breeders AR Lawson & Son of Hallington. Upright, a July 2003 born son of Blelack Percy also sold with a high beef value of 35 which is in the top 1% of the breed. He was knocked down to WF Reid of Mallesbury, Wiltshire.
