First to hit the 4,000gns mark was the day's supreme champion, Caylers Umbro CH27, a rising two year old by Doonally New and out of a homebred cow going back to Newthrums Regal. Bred by the Barker family who were once again making a highly successful 540 mile round trip from their Nuthampstead, Royston base, Umbro was knocked down sold to John H McIndoe, Rankinston, Ayrshire.

Sharing the second 4,000gns bid was Reddings Uriah, a July 2003 born Balthayock Matthew son and out of a Kersknowe sired cow. Uriah, who was placed second in his class, was offered by JS Wilson, of Annan Water, Moffat and went home with RH Gladstone, Thornhill, Dumfries.

Next to go at 3,200gns was the Welsh bred Gwenog Utaha CH26, from John Howells, Llanybydder, Ceredigion. Utaha who was unplaced in his class due to the fact John's son, Peter was the event's judge, was by the 18,000gns Derryharney Outstanding and out of a Midlock sired homebred cow. He was knocked down sold to Lincolnshire buyer, John Pridgeon, Keddington, Louth.

Forking out 2,800gns for Fairway Uranium was Glyn Owen, Penybont, Llandrindod Wells. A first class prize winner bred and exhibited by David Fattorini, Tockwith, York, Uranium was a November 2003 born Fairway Ocean son and out of a homebred cow by Fleets Vibrant.

The day's overall reserve championship went to Sportsman Unique CH26,  a June 2003 born Maerdy Sinndar son from the Cheshire based Boden and Davies partnership, Mellor, Stockport. Unique commanded a bid of 2,600gns from DG Jolly, New Macher, Aberdeen.

Three lots sold to 2,500gns a piece. First to go was the 20 month old Kilboy Roman son from Flintshire based vet, Esmor Evans, Mold, to D Howat, Girvan, Ayrshire. The same breeder also offered the 16 month old youngster, Maerdy Uruguay CH26 by Maerdy Sinndar for 2,500gns to W and J Barrie, Gatehouse of Fleet, Castle Douglas.

Finally, H Forster and Sons, Bardon Mill, Hexham sold Piatroon Utah CH34, a September 2003 born Dingle Hofmeister son at 2,500gns to AC Martin, Bankend, Dumfries.

Esmor Evans also led the day's female trade at 1,500gns with Maerdy Tetine CH22, a September 2002 born in calf heifer sired by Maerdy Orateur. She was secured by AJ Ewing, Annan, Dumfriesshire.
