THE control of summer biting flies and lice on cattle was the
basis of six years' work which has helped Phil Hadley gain his
PhD in Animal Production from the University of Nottingham.
Phil, who joined EBLEX last December as Regional Development
Manager, worked and studied in a field which brought together
academics, the industry and pharmaceutical companies to look
at lice control using commercial products.
Tests were carried out both on farm and in experimental conditions
on cattle aged from week-old calves through to finished stock.
Work carried out by Phil on summer biting flies and aspects
of meat hygiene has already been published in various Periodicals,
including the Veterinary Record
Phil said: "It has been a long process, but a thoroughly
enjoyable one. It is very rewarding to have finished the work."
