Feedmix Expand Yorkshire
On-Farm Mixing Operation
03/03/05
Specialist home mixers, Feedmix Ltd, a company within the Harbro
Group, are expanding their operation in Yorkshire and the East
of England following the purchase of the long-established North
Yorkshire Mill and Mix business from Joe McKitten.
The acquisition increases the Feedmix fleet of Feedmobiles to
six covering an area from Durham in the north through Yorkshire,
Derbyshire and Lincolnshire to East Anglia in the south, in addition
to ten operating in Scotland. Feedmix is delighted that Ray Hughes
is staying on as operator to provide continuity of service.
Feedmix designs and manufactures the Feedmobiles at their own
engineering works in Aberdeenshire as well as providing a mobile
feed mixing service right down the east of the country.
"We are committed to providing livestock farmers with a superior
on-farm mixing service, enabling them to utilise home-grown grain,
with technical support being provided by Harbro," said Feedmix
managing director, George McCombie.
"With the ever-increasing cost of moving grain off the farm
and hauling in compound feeds, it makes economic sense to have
home-grown grain processed on the farm using our Feedmobile service."
Feedmix are the acknowledged leaders in the field and have been
providing mobile grain treatment services in Scotland for many
years and in Yorkshire since 1999.
The service has been further enhanced with the appointment of
Dr Kevin Stickney, who has wide experience of home mixing and ration
formulation over many years, as pig product manager with Harbro,
to augment the sales and advisory service provided by regional
sales manager, Lance Gladstone, and his team based at Howden.
"Kevin is highly respected by pig farmers for his expertise
in pig nutrition and is a real asset to our technical team," says
Lance. "His experience in home-mixing will be particularly
valuable."
Feedmix works closely with Harbro who provide protein supplements
and minerals for home-mixed rations to enable farmers to maximise
production from their stock.
