Producers looking to maximise returns from this year's silage
now have access to a new web-based application rate calculator
and problem solver thanks to Trouw Nutrition. Farmers and advisors
logging onto the service at www.trouwnutrition.co.uk are able
to select the appropriate additive program to suit the quality
and conditions on their farm. On entering the site the program identifies a number of potential
production issues such as poor milk yield. The farmer can calculate
application rates from the grass type, harvesting method, dry
material percentage, fertilizer type and confirms the stage of
cutting and the application calculator generates a recommended
program for the season. Introducing the new service, Dr Helen Stebbens from Trouw Nutrition
explained, "We believe that this site will provide the producer
with a very valuable planning and action tool. During the past
few seasons we have been approached by a large number of farmers
looking for basic information and advice with which to plan silage
management. It is primarily designed to provide support and updated
advice to producers with an additive programme. The problem solver
also serves as an introduction and route master to those who
have not previously used an additive and are considering using
one this season." Dr Stebbens continues, "This season we will add a regional
update diary to the site. This will highlight local conditions,
quality and additive programmes. Farmers will be able to view
reports from their area and obtain expert advice from Trouw's
on-line silage support. In addition we have expanded our Herbi
help line on 0845 300 5858 enabling producers to discuss their
requirements with a Trouw advisor." |
