A QUALITY Standard Mark that looks good enough to eat will be
one of the highlights of the Chelsea Flower Show.
A representation of the Mark for quality beef and lamb, made of
horticultural produce donated by NFU members, is part of a joint
display by the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX) and the
National Farmers' Union (NFU) at the show from May 24 to 28.
The 'from farm to fork' display will also include: English meadow
areas with grazing topiary cows and sheep; stone walling; a running
water feature; and a traditional farmhouse complete with table
and settings for a succulent and tender lamb or beef meal.
The display, created by UK Horticulture's Award winning Penny
Riley in the Flower Pavilion, will raise awareness of the EBLEX
Quality Standard Mark and will demonstrate the Mark's benefit in
identifying beef and lamb that that has been specially selected
for its eating quality.
EBLEX Chief Executive Richard Ali said: "The Marks for beef
and lamb are all about quality as is the Chelsea Flower Show. This
will be a creative way of promoting awareness of the Quality Standard
Mark to the 157,000 show visitors."
NFU President Tim Bennett said: "The NFU is proud of its
long and successful record at the Chelsea Flower Show. We are delighted
that this year we are being supported by EBLEX at this prestigious
event, uniting the livestock sector with horticulture in one innovative
display."
