A three day show, lower costs for exhibitors and a live action
arena are just three aspects of the new plans for Smithfield
2006, announced earlier this week by its organiser, Haymarket
Land Events (HLE). In the four months since taking over the mantle, HLE's Managing Director,
Dominique Loral, says the consultation with exhibitors and visitors has
highlighted an event with immense loyalty but one which has become too
costly for exhibitors and too static for visitors. "Running the event over three days, lowering stand prices across
the board and introducing an AEA member discount based around stand size
are three measures we are taking to improve the return on investment for
exhibitors," she says. But it's the plan to completely overhaul the show layout that will be
most visible to farmers attending in 2006 she feels. "Our visitors
tell us they want a more lively event so at the heart of the machinery
area will be a new live action arena - a real buzz of activity and excitement.
This, together with a streamlined livestock element in a prominent location
and a comprehensive focus on business options and advice will deliver
a more coherent event." Smithfield 2006 will be more accessible for dealers with the relocation
of the BAGMA dealer centre to the ground floor with the machinery exhibitors,
along with a new dealer lounge for entertaining customers. HLE will work
with BAGMA to make it easier for dealers and their customers to get to
Smithfield. Smithfield 2006 is scheduled for Thursday November 30th to Saturday December
3rd at Earls Court in London. Response from exhibitors has been very encouraging
says Dominique. "Exhibitors want to see Smithfield succeed and are
very positive about the planned changes. Visitors are attracted to an
event in London in December and well over 80% achieved what they wanted
from their visit in 2004." "By "putting the Capital back in Agriculture" Smithfield
2006 will be an event that appeals to every farmer, offering a machinery
and livestock showcase, core business information and the excitement and
buzz of a day to remember!" |
